Challenge #10--Buttons & Bows--Sarah's Turn

Greetings all!! It's my turn to share my creation for this month's challenge!! Buttons and Bows is our theme this time and I have chosen to use one of Crissy's new beautiful carousel horses for my card. The image is called Autumn Harvest Ride!! I really enjoy colouring horses and my favourite season is Autumn so I foresee using this image many times over!!!

I used some Icicle Stickles to accent the tassels and creases of the pumpkins...

I am somewhat "Button-Challenged" (LOL). I really don't use them that much but I have managed to sneak a couple in to accent my flowers!!!

Now a word about this month's challenge...you have until midnight on October 31st to enter your own creation using buttons and bows so there's still time!!! Click here to enter your project--scroll down to the end of the post and click on the little blue froggie and follow the instructions!!

Now for a little info on this month's prize package...The kind and generous people of Stitchy Bear Stamps are our sponsors this month. They are giving away FIVE digital images of your choice from their store & Crissy is giving away THREE of her digital images as well.

THAT'S 8 FREE DIGI'S!!!!!

If you would like to be put into the draw for these images just use either one of Stitchy Bear's images or one of Crissy's digi images found at Squigglefly, Whimsy Stamps or Wags 'n Whiskers

A word from our sponsor:

Stitchy Bear Stamps was created when a good friend of mine Sue from Beary Dust Stamps and I (Stitchy) were selling our products in the same store. One day we got an unexpected email saying that the store was shutting down and when we went to the store, poof, it was gone...So, after the dust cleared and several emails later, Stitchy Bear Stamps was born. We gathered all the other creators from the original store and away we went. It has been quite a learning experience, but nonetheless, we are growing everyday with new fabulous creators. I have always believed when God closes one door another Bigger and Better one opens ;)...Thank you all who have read our little story, I do hope you enjoyed ;)

Please come nip by our store...meet our new creators and check out our fab new images and mega bargain packs!!

Thanks for dropping by today!!!

Challenge #10-Buttons and Bows (with Melanie)

Good morning friends, and happy Friday to you all! It's my turn to share a card with you today. Our current challenge is "Buttons and Bows"...have you been keeping up with the posts by my fellow Crissy's Crew members? Each lovely gal has a designated day to post each month...that way, we hope to keep the inspiration flowing throughout the entire month!

This month, our wonderful sponsor is Stitchy Bear Stamps and they have very generously offered five digital images as a prize...this is in combination with Crissy's prize of three of her digital images! Somebody is going to be a very happy digital stamper this month. :) Here's a little info about Stitchy Bear Stamps:

Stitchy Bear Stamps was created when a good friend of mine Sue from Beary Dust Stamps and I (Stitchy) were selling our products in the same store. One day we got an unexpected email saying that the store was shutting down and when we went to the store, poof it was gone...So, after the dust cleared and several emails later, Stitchy Bear Stamps was born. We gathered all the other creator's from the original store and away we went. It has been quite a learning experience but none the less we are growing everyday with new fabulous creators. I have always believed when God closes one door another Bigger and Better one opens ;)...
Thank you all who have read our little story, I do hope you enjoyed ;)

For my card this month, I chose to work with two of Crissy's newest digital images available from Whimsy Stamps. These two adorable little tykes are "Anna's Halloween" and " Bobby's Halloween". Crissy captures kids so beautifully...I just adore her artwork. These two remind me of my kids in their Halloween costumes when they were little. Nathan was a big orange dragon Pokemon (Charzard) when he was in grade one, and Ainsleigh was several different princesses over the years when she was younger. Since I wanted these images to reflect my own kids, I resized "Anna" to be much smaller than "Bobby"...Nathan is almost seven years older than Ainsleigh. The design paper is from Graphic 45 (I love this paper!). To fit in with our challenge, I added some black satin ribbon and tied two layered buttons to the middle of the bow with twine. The little "Trick or Treat" sentiment is from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.

Anna and Bobby were printed on Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copic markers. Before printing them, I measured the Spellbinders die that I wanted to use and tweaked the size of the images until they would fit nicely inside the die. This ability to resize and flip your images to suit your specific project is one of the best things about digital stamps! While the image was still in the die, I used my Inkssentials Blending Tool to apply Distress Inks in Antique Linen and Bundled Sage. Finally, I added some Stardust Stickles to parts of the image.

Copics: Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20 Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59 Orange Dragon: E50, YR00, YR02, YR07, E08, E59, Y21, Y23, Y26, E33, E37 Princess Dress: BG75, BG72, BG11, Bg10, BG000, BG0000, B60, C00, C1, C3, R30, R32, R37 Hair: E50, E30, E31, E33, E37, E59 Pumpkins: E50, YR31, YR07, YR16, Y17, E33, E37, E99

We'd love to have you join in with our Buttons and Bows challenge this month. You can link up your project on Crissy's post from October 1...you can find that HERE (just look for the little blue froggy at the end of her post). If you would like the chance to win the fantastic prize this month, then please make sure that your project features a digital stamp from either Crissy Armstrong (available at Whimsy Stamps, Squigglefly or Wags 'n Whiskers) or from our sponsor Stitchy Bear. You have until midnight October 30, 2010 to play along!

If you have not yet become a follower here at Sundays With Crissy, then make sure to sign up! That way, you can keep up to date with the posts by each member of Crissy's Crew...these ladies are so talented and I know that you will not want to miss a single project.

#10 ~ Buttons and Bows with Maria

Happy Tuesday everyone!  I'm so excited its my turn to bring you a creation for the Buttons and Bows challenge this month at Sundays with Crissy.  We have a wonderful prize package for you as we are generously being sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps.  The winner will choose 5 digis of  their choice from Stitchy Bear plus another 3 digis from Crissy.  That's a total of 8 digis ~ wow!!

I have used one of Crissy's newest illlustrations, Bobby's Hallowe'en, available at Whimsy Stamps.  I paired up this sweet image with this year's K&Co Halloween DPs.  Image was stamped on Beckett Expression paper and coloured with Copics.  Ribbon and buttons are from my stash and I've used a MS punch for some added spoooooky fun.  I cut out the sentiment from the K&Co DP and popped it up.

If you use a Stitchy Bear Image or one of Crissy's digital images from either Whimsy Stamps, Squigglefly, or Wags n' Whiskers, you will be eligible for the prize! You can use any image you like but only those who use an image from one of the above-mentioned companies will be entered into the draw for the prize package.

Please submit your creation HERE using InLinkz.  You have until midnight on Sunday, October 31st so we look forward to seeing your submissions.

Hugs,
Maria

No. 10 ~ Buttons & Bows by Mary

Happy Sunday! Hope you are all having a wonderful Fall weekend. It's my turn to post for our BUTTONS & BOWS challenge.   Yay!

I've colored this sooooooooo adorable Snuzzle Love cutie illustrated by Crissy Armstrong for Wags 'n Whiskers ~ can you tell I just love her?! But I promise not to go on and on about how much she reminds me of my granddaughter!

Lots of buttons, and actually a few bows - if you look very closely, I added some real TEENY TINY bows to the bunny's outfit and the hair braid.  Yes, I do love bows!  And, since I'm a purple addict, this Cosmo Cricket paper was made just for me!!   I also can't tell you how excited  I was to find this gorgeous  piece of purple dotted ribbon in my stash ~ it matched the DP perfectly!!  Yes, I admit it ~  it really is the little things that make my day!    :)

I decided to do an easel card, which is always my favorite for special cards. One tip that I learned from my inspirational go-to card designer, Rachel Jakes, is to add a little DP to the inside of the easel fold. It's such a simple little addition, but seems to really add a lot to the whole card, IMO! Here's a quick photo to show you what I'm talking about . . .

And a photo of the bottom section of my easel card, with MORE buttons . . .

Our challenge this month is being sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps.  They are offering FIVE digital images of your choice from their store! And Crissy is going to throw in THREE of her digital images as well, making the prize a total of EIGHT digital images!

If you use either a Stitchy Bear Image or one of Crissy's digital images from either Whimsy Stamps, Sqigglefly, or Wags n' Whiskers, you will be eligible for the prize! If you don't use any of those designated images, that's fine, you can still play along. But you won't be entered into the draw if you choose to use alternate images!

Buttons & Bows - Ride em Cowboy

Hi Everyone,

It's my turn to share my bit of inspiration for you this month as you are working on your 'Buttons & Bows' projects for this month's challenge!

Crissy has been illustrating stamps for some time and I have always loved her carousel horses but they were only ever available in rubber and so I admired from afar.

But.... FINALLY!!! (do I sound excited?) Crissy has released her famous and incredible Carousel Horses as digi stamps!!! Available from Whimsy Stamps who also sell her rubber carousel horses.

So I was just a little bit excited and of course and had to colour one up. It took me FOUR hours to colour. Had to be perfect. :)

Ready? I am a little bit proud. hahaha

This is 'Ride 'em Cowboy'.

I did some experimenting with my copic colours this round. The horse body was coloured with E13, 17 & 19 and then the shading with N5, N7 & N9 and I also added white highlights at the end to try and get the 'horse shine'.

I googled saddles and began experimenting to create a 'leather' look. In the centre I used E33, R46 & e47 and the trimming was E30 & R02.

The tail and mane are E30, E33, E37 and E29

I wanted to keep the card clean. I decided to go for a cross between country & carnival. I found this fabulous carnival designer paper by kaisercraft. Perfect for this image!! If you look closely you will see the little candy store in the background. heehhee...

This month Stitchy Bear stamps are sponsoring 'Sundays with Crissy' and are generously offering FIVE digital stamps! Woohooo! You will be caught over there for hours trying to decide what you want to play with! And you'll want to check out what they have in store for Christmas!

Plus Crissy herself is throwing in another THREE digi stamps so if I can count my fingers correctly that is a total of EIGHT digi stamps!

We all love our buttons and bows so come along and join us for some fun and for a chance to win EIGHT digi stamps, make a project using one of Crissy's OR Stitchy Bear's stamps!

You can purchase any of Crissy's digi stamps from Whimsy Stamps, Sqigglefly, or Wags n' Whiskers.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you are having a fantabulous crafty weekend!

Hugs all and take care
