Here Comes The Sun-Melanie's turn

Good morning folks!! The challenge at Sundays With Crissy this month is Here Comes The Sun. This is open to your interpretation! You could use sunny colours, summertime images, include an actual sun on your project...so many possibilities!

I decided to pull out one of my favourite stamps that Crissy illustrated for Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps...this stunning fairy is Ophelia. (You can find all the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps by Crissy Armstrong HERE.) I've used her a couple of times before, but I absolutely adore her so I was excited to ink her up again. :) Ophelia is actually perched on a rock, but I chose to not ink that portion of the stamp so that I could have her sitting on the edge of my main image panel with her legs extending past the border. I've been hoarding that sunflower paper from Fancy Pants (Rusted Sun) for ages and finally decided it was time to use it, especially since the sunflowers seemed to be perfect for this challenge.

Ophelia was stamped on Neenah paper with Memento Ink and coloured with Copic markers. The sky was sponged in with Stormy Sky Distress Ink and a hand-cut cloud template. In keeping with the Here Comes The Sun challenge, I wanted to use sunny colours for Ophelia. I also wanted to experiment with some feather blending on her wings...fairy wings are so much fun to colour! It took me a few tries on a scrap piece of paper to come up with the right combination of yellows, oranges and reds to achieve the effect I wanted...she actually ended up looking a bit more like a fire fairy than a sun fairy though! lol I added some subtle shimmer to her wings with Smooch Illuminate.

Copics: Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20 Hair: E50, Y21, Y26, E31, E33, E37, E59 Dress: R22, R27, R29, R46, R59, C5, C7, YR16, Y17, R27, E08, E99 Wings: E50, YR20, YR16, Y17, Y23, R17, R27, R59

Why don't you get creating and show us your Sun/Summer themed cards!! There will be five free digi's given to one lucky challenge participant who will be chosen by Random.org at the end of the month! You may now use images from any company and still be included in the draw for the blog candy prize! Those who use one of Crissy's images, either from her rubber or digital collections will be entered twice in the draw. But please respect the rule of no more than three entries per month. Otherwise your entries could be deleted the first post is "HERE"

Here Comes The Sun - Elaine's Turn!

It has been a hectic month here so far! So much so, that I didn’t realise until a couple of days ago that the Whimsy Stamps release hop and my Sundays with Crissy challenge post would fall on the same day. So, in the interests of preserving my sanity, I’ve combined the two!
You can check out the challenge for this month and all the rules/how to enter etc over on the main challenge post for this month !  This month the theme is Here Comes The Sun, which loosely ties in with my card today…using one of Crissy’s new images in rubber from Whimsy Stamps! How does it tie in? Well, mermaids and underwater themes always seem to crop up over summer, and they always make me think of summer and sunshine!

The image I've used for today's card is JOURNEY INTO THE SEA, one of Crissy's gorgeous new images available in rubber.

I fell in love with this one straight away - check out that gorgeous flowing hair!  Coloured with Copics on Make it Colour Blending Card.

For all the details on products used etc, and to join in the Whimsy Blog Hop, pop on over to my blog - Quixotic Cards.

Otherwise your entries could be deleted.

Lisa's Turn-Here Comes the Sun

This image is one of Crissy Armstrong's new images for Whimsy Stamps this month. I thought a beachy, sea life get well card would fit the bill! I had so much fun making the embellishments for this project! I made the life preserver and fish net out of white foam packing material. The fish hook is just gold craft wire. The bundle of rope is natural twine. I had a blast with this project! It's sure to cheer someone who's not feeling so hot!!!

Why don't you get creating and show us your Sun themed cards!! Here comes the sun with Zoe

Hi Everyone,

We're all celebrating summer at Sunday's with Crissy this month and of course I just happen to be sitting here with the heater on, my lambs-wool slippers and layers of clothing wishing the sun was here for me too! teehee OK I will stop complaining just a little because really it's not THAT cold here like where some of you all live. It's just cold for me!! :)

I thought I would create a shaker card this time.

I really used the designer paper to my advantage and wanted to make it so it appeared to be part of the whole design. I merged Crissy's new image Winnefred Whale on top of The Beach from MiC. Crissy's new digi stamps come with a transparent background around the outside of the image to help you merge them easier so it was a cinch to place Winnefred on top of the beach! :)

Why don't you get creating and show us your Sun themed cards!! Otherwise your entries could be deleted.

Be sure to check back for lots of inspiration from my wonderful teamies throughout the month too!

Thanks so much for popping on by!

Challenge #18: Here Comes The Sun!

Hi Peeps!  Crissy here filling in for Sarah who is taking this month off.  Thanks for all you do on here Sarah! You're the bestest!
This month our challenge theme is "Here Comes The Sun".  You may interpret that any way you wish, and create a card, scrapbook layout, or other paper craft using either rubber or digi stamps.  You can see that on my card, the sun is implied.  :-)  But just for fun I added a sunflower charm.   I kept this card clean and simple -- a very rare thing for me to do! It certainly makes Cranston Crab front and center.  Cranston is a brand new digi I am releasing through Whimsy Stamps today (June 1).  He is super easy to colour up, so he's great for fast and easy cards.  If you want more details (like Copic colour list) you can check it out on my personal blog, Crissy's Art 'n Heart.
Now here's the blurb about the blog candy details:

Why don't you get creating and show us your Sun themed cards!! Otherwise your entries could be deleted.

Usually on the first Sarah posts the Artist's Choice Awards as well as the winner of last month's challenge blog candy (five of my digi's).  But this month because of extenuating circumstances, the Artist trophy winners and the blog candy winners will be announced by early next week.  Please be patient with us as we work out the necessary details.
Be sure to revisit this blog all month long so that you can see the eye candy my DT has prepared for you to enjoy!  We will have a new post every few days or so.  Enjoy the sun people!!
And now, over to you! I hope you have fun playing our challenge!!
